The Countermeasure

Couldn’t find a version that wasn’t live. At least this one cuts out all the pre-song nonsense where the audience acts like they think the band is there to listen to them.

Mama’s coming home today!
In anticipation, the pancakes fly
From the children’s plates
To the dog, through the sky.
Mama’s coming home today!

The sun makes noise to celebrate!
In obeisance, the butler rises
To quiet the household’s gears
With oils, and compromises.
The sun makes noise to celebrate!

Mama’s coming home today!
In appreciation, a runner’s sent
To deliver the angels’ praise
For surviving, and keeping up the rent.
Mama’s coming home today!

Innocently, probably mocking, two children, a dog, and an August sunrise cock their heads in unison and ask, stereophonically: “Oh, you’re up?”

  1. In re: Weakerthans… too bad ya couldn’t find a studio version. I couldn’t make out the lyrics, but I liked the music. Google was no help… as the track wasn’t ID’ed, other than the name of the album.

Life’s gonna get easier this afternoon, eh? 😉
